Learning being alone without being lonely

If you're reading this you're probably really bored and, at the moment, have no one to be with. Whether you long for a girlfriend, or miss your family and friends, this guide can help you cope with living alone. Keep in mind that humans are indeed social animals, but that doesn't mean that we can't be perfectly happy outside of society too.

Steps

Be happy. Live a life of optimism. Happiness comes from within regardless of your situation, so don’t use any excuses, such as being alone.

Do everything you would normally do with a partner or friend. Many times it isn't the partner or friend you are missing, but the activities and hobbies you shared. Take yourself out for a date. For example, if you would have gone out to dinner or to a movie on a date, then take yourself out to a movie or to a nice restaurant. Don't hold yourself back.

Learn something new.

Learning is the most important aspect of living alone. It helps to keep the boogieman away, and also gives you something to talk about when you do have to actually enter society.

Learning is also incredibly more efficient when you don't have social responsibilities like family to take care of, or a girlfriend to entertain.

Learning isn't just exclusive to books (although they are a great source of knowledge). You can learn to do anything by just practicing. Enrolling in classes is fun and also helps with the social life - you will meet new people in your classes. If you're not so much into the meeting people, the Internet is a great way to learn pretty much everything (That's what this site's for!).

Consider learning: Indoor Activities: A Foreign Language, Painting, Yoga, Art Appreciation, A Musical Instrument such as piano or flute. Outdoor Activities: Gardening,Fencing, Tennis, Golf. Or Combination - things you can do indoors and out: Photography, Drawing.

Get a pet.

Humans need affection, without it they become bitter and hate the world around them. Pets are always a source of affection and will give loads of it endlessly.

Pets also provide someone to talk to. No, it's not weird that you talk to your pet, it's weird if you don't. Just be cautious that your pet doesn't talk back. If so, seek professional help.
If you are aloof and self-sufficient, tropical fish, hamsters, budgies or finches are great choices. If you like a little interaction, but not a lot of maintenance, try a cat. If you want to be very hands-on, spend lots of time and get lots of feedback, a dog is for you.

Read.

Now may be the time to catch up on some of your reading. Not only is it fun and enjoyable, but it's also self-education and a way to round yourself as a person.
Consider spending some time with classics such as "Moby Dick," "A Christmas Carol," "Romeo and Juliet," "The Martian Chronicles," or "Tales of Mystery and Imagination."
Or choose a genre to explore: Sci-Fi greats include "Stranger In a Strange Land," "Fahrenheit 451," and the "Dune" series. Horror: "Salem's Lot," "The Stand," and "Dracula." Fantasy: "Lord of the Rings," "Chronicles of Narnia," and "Harry Potter." Or just regular fiction: "East of Eden," "To Kill a Mockingbird," or "A Farewell to Arms."

Poetry is cool, too, and nothing makes you look cooler than when someone says, "Oh my God, you actually know that by heart?" Great poetry: "Charge of the Light Brigade," "Ulysses," "She Walks In Beauty," "How Do I Love Thee," and Shakespeare's Sonnets - #29 is great!

Join an on-line community.

One of the most popular online societies is that of World of Warcraft, but there are several on-line multi-player games that will welcome you with an abundance of online buddies.
Don't limit your online activities to just games. Join forums or chat rooms to meet new people also. Take whatever you're interested in and find other people like you.

Think. Be introspective. Contemplate or ponder things.

Above all, contemplation is one of the most important self-building things you can do. Think about what makes you you. What do you believe in? Why? Are there any things that don't seem right to you? What do you believe at face value (or accept as a matter of faith)?
Philosophy is a great way to improve your thinking and reasoning skills. It will give you interesting topics that will stretch and bend your brain to help you understand your view of reality. Keep in mind that just because someone believes in something it doesn't mean you have to if you don't like it.
Philosophers: Socrates, Plato, Nietzsche

Exercise.

Now is the time to get that body you've always wanted. Instead of just pigging out on junk food and sitting in front of the TV all night, do some push-ups or sit-ups.

Rediscover the fun to be had in simple exercises. Riding a bike around your neighborhood becomes less work and more fun as you do it.

Be consistent.

Exercise takes willpower and diligence. Make a schedule and stick to it. Keep it easy at first and you will discover your limits. Or, join a gym and create new friends there.
Go outside. It's a big world out there, and you're only seeing a small fraction of it. Forget the people, just enjoy what life has to offer. Once you do that, then people will want to know and be with you. Frankly, you won't have a choice but to have friends!

Tips

Be careful of who you trust. Don't be too eager to meet someone you just met on-line. Try to always meet in a public place and it's best to bring along someone you trust.

Keep your mind as active as possible. It will help you cope with the fact that you are alone and will also help you improve yourself.

If you're going to go out, make sure your neighborhood is safe. If not go to a safer neighborhood.
Have fun, don't let the little things get to you.
Let go. Don't think about being alone, just accept it.

Warnings

If you're bored, you may be boring. You may have nothing to talk about at parties or gatherings, or may feel ill at ease contributing to other social situations, and therefore find yourself alone a lot.

By making yourself more interesting, you'll also find more things to interest you. Be careful about making a change that doesn't fit your personality. Being honest with yourself and true to your own individuality is more important.

Online communities, and especially online games such as World of Warcraft can become very addictive to some people. Learn to balance your new interest with other things that are both important and enjoyable in your life. If you find that participating in such a community or game is becoming addictive, stop immediately and reevaluate your situation.

Things You'll Need

An explorer's heart

You may be in love if...

One of the most common human experiences that two or more (depending on how ambitious you are) people can share is love. But, it’s not always easy to tell if you are in “like”, “lust” or full blown, forever loving. With that in mind, I’ve created this list of signs that you may be crazy in love!

1. If you’ve ever stared deeply into the eyes of your significant other for more than 10 seconds without cracking up hysterically … you may be in love.

2. If every person in your life tells you that she/he’s no good and you’re mailman, pharmacist and local news station agrees, yet you think they are “just jealous” … you may be in love.

3. Guys: if you’ve taken the pictures of the other women in you’re life off the walls, like the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition posters, Playmate of the month calendar, Monster Truck Rally 2005 … you may be in love.

4. Ladies: men can produce excessive amounts of eye watering, nose burning noxious odor from almost any food or drink, and then aren’t above sharing it with others, especially at night. Knowing all this, and you STILL want to sleep in the same bed with him … you may be in love.

5. If your significant other asks you how they look in their new retro polyester lime green outfit and you say they look hot … you may be in love…. or you have a really strong self preservation instinct.

6. Guys: if you’ve ever given up washing and waxing that new car you just bought to watch “Sleepless in Seattle” with you’re girlfriend/wife for the 20th time … you may be in love.

7. If you always remember every anniversary and birthday of your partner, and you’re not female … you may be in love.

8. If you think the underwear and socks you get for your birthday and Christmas every year is a pleasant surprise … you may be in love.

9. If you thought the Sears Tool Set and rolling cabinet you got for your birthday was great idea, and you’re not male ... you may be in love.

10. If you are taken to Burger King for a romantic dinner, and that doesn’t bother you … you may be in love.

11. If you notice your local florist starts arriving at work in a limo since you became a customer ... you may be in love

12. If hearing "Honey, wheres my clean underwear?" brings tears of joy to your eyes ... you may be in loveBut the easiest way to tell if you are in love is this: If there is no one on this planet that you would rather spend everyday of your life with than the one you are with … then you ARE in love!

How To Prepare for a Tarot Reading

As Tarot reader i believed in the accuracy of the tarot cards helping individuals to unfold the future but still it depends on us bec. we control our own destiny,it is how we will take this opportunity & how to make the most out of it.

So you've got your Tarot deck, you've figured out how to keep it safe from negativity, and now you're ready to read for someone else. Perhaps it's a friend who's heard about your interest in Tarot. Maybe it's a coven sister in need of guidance. Perhaps -- and this happens a lot -- it's a friend of a friend, who has a problem and would like to see "what the future holds." Regardless, there are a few things you should do before you take on the responsibility of reading cards for another person.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: Varied
Here's How:
1.First, before you read for someone else, make sure you've brushed up on the
basics of Tarot. It's important that you study and learn the meanings of the 78 cards in the deck. Study the major arcana, as well as the four suits, so that you know what each card represents. Readers who are more intuitive may get slightly different meanings than the traditional "book taught" representations, and that's okay. The point is, know what you're doing before you do it for someone else. Meanings that are only partially learned will result in only a partial reading.
2.Decide whether you feel comfortable using "reversals" in your divination. Many people read a card the same way no matter how it turns up. Others follow the reversed meanings that are applied to each card. It's up to you whether you use reversed meanings or not, but it's a good idea to be consistnet. In other words, if you use reversals, use them every time they appear, not just when it's convenient. Remember, as the cards are shuffled they will become very well mixed.
3.Before you begin your reading, select a card to represent the Querent -- the person for whom you are reading. This is sometimes referred to as a Significator card. In some traditions, the Significator is selected based on age and maturity level -- a King would be a good choice for an older man, while a Page or Knight would do for a younger, less experienced male. Some readers select a card based on personality -- your earth-mother best friend may be perfectly represented by the Empress, or your really devout uncle by the Hierophant, and that's okay too.

4.It's a good idea to have the Querent shuffle the deck so the cards can pick up on his or her energies. If you feel the Querent has some negativity attached to him, cleanse the deck after the reading. If you really don't want the Querent to shuffle, at the very least you should allow him or her to cut the deck into three piles once you've completed the shuffling. As he does so, the Querent should silently ask a simple but important question on which the reading will focus. Ask the Querent not to share this question with you until you've completed the reading.

5.Decide which layout you want to use -- some people prefer the Celtic Cross, others the Gypsy method, or you can make up your own. Start at the top of the deck, and place the cards in the order dictated by your spread. As you turn the cards over to be read, flip them from one side to the other, rather than vertically -- if you turn them vertically, a reversed card will end up right-side up and vice versa. Place all the cards in the layout in front of you at once, before you begin reading any of them. Once all the cards are laid out, set the rest of the deck aside.

6.Give a quick glance over the spread, and look for any patterns. For example, is there more of one suit than others? Are there a lot of court cards, or an absence of the Major Arcana? Note the suits as well, because this will give you an idea of the possible direction of the reading.
Many Swords: conflict and strife
Many Wands: big changes
Many Pentacles/Coins: financial issues
Many Cups: love and relationship issues
Many major arcana: the Querent's question could be controlled by other people, rather than himself
Many 8's: change and forward movement in life
Many Aces: powerful energy of the suit's element

7.Now that you've looked them over, it's time to get down to the nitty-gritty, and do your reading!
The EmpressBriefly: A woman of position, power and authority. It may be expressed in the home or as head of a business empire. She is commanding and forthright. She makes wise choices based on all the information she can gather. This can also mean that you are entering a time of prosperity and abundance. Good luck and opportunities may literally just drop in your lap.

She makes wise choices based on all the information she can gather. She is the eternal mother. Her maternal instincts are exceptionally well developed and she may play the "mothering" role in various aspects of her life. She "likes" to look after people, it comes naturally to her. She is the nurturer and the provider. She is sensitive and understanding, gentle and compassionate. She has a soft heart and is always at the ready when needed or if there is an emergency. She loves to feel needed. She is highly intuitive, romantic, and emotional. She is easily moved to tears, yet is mature in her outlook. She is strong, warm and affectionate. Giving hugs is her forte. Her passion is looking after people and their needs. Her soul has been directed to the caring of humanity. The roles she could involve herself in are mother, nurturer, counsellor, adviser, or in charge of any industry involved with humanitarian or charitable functions such as orphanages, whether large or small. She is the one who guides and instructs and cares for anyone who asks. This gives her enormous emotional fulfilment and Satisfaction. The Empress is generous and kind hearted. She is incredibly resourceful and has has learnt the skills along the way to build her own nest egg. In her prime and the latter part of her life she will have abundance and comforts. Her home decorating tastes become more luxurious as she gets older. In the meantime she focusses on making her home warm and welcoming. She is ever ready to make anyone a cup of tea and help them relax and unwind. This woman cares about her appearance and may fuss over her hair, clothes and/or makeup. She likes to be pampered and may go to great lengths to achieve this, whether soaking in a bath, having massages, facials etc. She would like the good things in life, good food, good wine and plenty of socialising. Dinner by candlelight would be the way she would prefer to have her meals, with good company and conversation. The Empress is also practical and logical in her outlook and generally tends to stick to her decisions after careful consideration. She can be analytical, but not to the point of taking too long to make up her mind. She is the kind of person you can take your troubles to and she will listen carefully and compassionately to your woes. Her advice, when sought, is wise and well thought out. She does not offer advice unless asked as she knows only too well that people may only want someone to talk to, to air their feelings with and that may be all they really need. She may have gifts in the arts or she could love sewing, knitting or other needlework as she enjoys making beautiful yet practical items. She may dabble in various hobbies until she finds the one or two which she enjoys the most. She probably has very soft hands, despite always keeping them busy. She likes to hug people and make them feel wanted. If this card represents some elements of yourself yet you are still quite young, you can look forward to a lovely future as you grow into becoming the Empress. Your life will prosper and you will get most of your needs met, yet give out an abundance of love and caring to many others over the years. If you are not the Empress, then this person is either a close friend or relative, or you are just about to meet her. She will welcome you on first meeting as if you are already old friends. If you are a mature woman, the Empress could become your next best friend. If you are a male, the Empress may become your friend, lover or wife. This can also mean that you are entering a time of prosperity and abundance. Good luck and opportunities may literally just drop in your lap.

She could teach you valuable lessons that you need to learn. Should you be considering becoming a teacher yourself, this would be a good indicator that you are on the right track and will achieve success in your chosen field. Mystical studies may also appeal to you at this time, and you could take up the study of subjects such as astrology, tarot or other esoteric knowledge.

Ethereal (Top)Essence of the force; what choices do I need to make in order to begin this journey.

JudgementBriefly: It can be a new life created out of the wisdom of the lessons you have learned from your past and even from the mistakes you have made. If there is someone in your life whom you would like to reunite with, now is the time to approach them and rekindle lost friendship, or long lost love. In Detail...This card shows a man, woman and child in a boat going over the ocean. The man is holding a bugle and he appears confident and strong. If you are a single man and you draw this card, it is symbolic of your forthcoming marriage and the birth of your child. If you are single woman, it can symbolise the new man who is going to come into your life and he is fertile and will become the father of your child, possibly your very first child. This card can also symbolise a time of deep reflection on your life, the mistakes you have made and how you are at the point of trying to understand what all this means and rectify whatever you can. It can be a new life created out of the wisdom of the lessons you have learned from your past and even from the mistakes you have made. If there is someone in your life whom you would like to reunite with, now is the time to approach them and rekindle lost friendship, or long lost love. Travel can be undertaken at this time and it will radically change your whole life.

Emotion (Left)Feelings and senses associated with the process. What will assist and guide me during this time.

The EmperorBriefly: A man of power who tries to bring balance and order to his business activities. He is highly focussed on building a business or empire and seeing to it that things run like clockwork - more family time is indicated. In Detail...He is a man of power who tries to bring balance and order to his business activities. He is highly focussed on building a business or empire and seeing to it that things run like clockwork. He may be the director of CEO or General Manager of a large corporation. His role there us of great importance as he is a man who knows what he is doing. He is exceptionally business minded and goal orientated. He always achieves what he sets out to do. He is fixed in his opinions and refuses to budge once he has made up his mind. He is steadfast and loyal. He does not like deceit in any form. He has high principles and is considered a man of integrity by his employees and friends. The Emperor can be a formidable opponent as he fights to the death. Has has courage and tenacity and little beats him down. He is a man who needs financial security and will work long and hard if necessary to achieve this. His focus on business matters is just about all consuming for him, although he does like family life and will generally seek a wife to stand by his side. He understands the need for close family bonding and love. He makes a good husband and father to his children. He would instil respect in his children and hep them to understand why he is not always there at home. He expects that his wife will provide his needs and also most of the needs of their children. His goal is to maintain financial security and independence and he insists on instilling these qualities in his children. He is not into frivolity or wasting time, though he does occasionally find some peace in solitude, when he can contemplate the meaning of his life. Very little ruffles the Emperor's feathers. He is stable, secure and confident in his approach to life. If you are a young man and this card appears, it could be showing you where you will be in 10 or 20 years from now. The card is encouraging you to seek your financial independence and follow your dreams. This card, if not you, could represent your father or your boss or other influential male in your life. If you are a female, this too could be your father or your boss, or your future partner in life. You can expect that if he becomes your friend and then your lover, he will eventually be your husband or partner for life. If you are a male and over 40, this card may very well represent yourself and it is time to acknowledge where you are on your life's path and perhaps now take time out to relax a little, maybe take the family on an extended overseas holiday and just unwind for awhile. The world won't stop turning if you take leave from your working responsibilities and spend some time with your loved ones, who probably would really appreciate being around you at this time.

Reflection (Bottom)Vision and logic of the creative process. What lessons and guides should I listen for.

StrengthBriefly: It is possible that someone born under the sign of Leo is of some importance to you right now. our strength and fortitude are about to be acknowledged and testedIn Detail...Initially the picture on this card depicts a woman holding open the mouth of a lion, which shows both her courage and her desire to tame the wild beast. It is possible that someone born under the sign of Leo is of some importance to you right now. If you are the Leo, then now is you time to shine and let the world know what you can do. Your efforts will receive recognition now and if this in any way involves being in the public eye, the spotlight is about to seek you out and make you look like a beacon in the hight. Your strength and fortitude are about to be acknowledged and tested. If you withstand the demands made on your resilience and energy levels, you will come through this time with flying colours.

Creation (Right)Completion, the density or finished manifestation. The outcome based on the current path.

The MagicianBriefly: Unusual magical powers that has the ability to bring you anything that your heart desires. In Detail...This is a card of unusual magical powers that has the ability to bring you anything that your heart desires. You only have to wish for something and it is right there in front of you. You may need to be highly discriminating lest you wish for the wrong thing, person or job or whatever, because once possessed, it may no longer be desired. Events seem to unfold at a rapid pace with this card and you may find some difficulty keeping up with the speed with which changes occur in your affairs and situations. Many decisions will need to be made during this time and it is up to you whether you adapt and go with the flow as many of your choices now will put you on a new path and then you will enjoy many new and different life experiences. The Magician can do anything. The Magician can have any position he wants, the person he desires or anything his imagination can conjure up. If he wishes to be the President of a country or the Prime Minister of a country, he can do that. All he has to do is desire it and wish for it and make it happen. If he seeks the most desired woman in the land, he can have her, marry her, have children with her. Nothing is beyond his power, which has no boundaries and no limitations. He can have wealth, title, power, prestige, love, glory, fame, anything at all that he wants or feels he needs. He has mystical and magical qualities and a power that is so subtle, it sometimes appears to go undetected. His powerful abilities are beyond comprehension and understanding by the average human being. He is unfathomable, unreachable, unless he wants you closer by his side. If this card should represent you, then you are being made aware of what your real and true talents are and that this is a favourable time to pursue your dreams. Should this card represent someone else, it may be wise to consider what it is that this person wants from you. Do they want you in their life, or out of their life. It is their wish that will come true, not yours, unless you too are also a Magician.

About TAROT CARDS;guiding your future

Jim Wickson: Tarot (also known as Tarock, Tarokk, Taroky, Taroc, Tarok, Tarocchi and similar names) is a family of trick taking card games played with an enlarged deck of 78 cards which include an extra court card for each of the four regular suits, a permanent trump suit of 21 cards, and a kind of "wild card" called "the Fool" or "Excuse." Although seen primarily by many as a means of fortune telling or divination, the Tarot deck was created in northern Italy during the 15th century for playing card games. The notion of a trump suit which survives in such popular card games as Spades and Bridge originated with the game of Tarot. The myth of Egyptian origins of Tarot, while once common, has long been debunked by later scholars. There is also no record of Tarot cards being used for the occult or divination prior to the 18th century. The Tarot card readings popular at Renaissance Fairs are a creative license taken with historical fact and should not be viewed as authentic. Contrary to popular belief, conventional playing cards were not derived from Tarot decks and the Fool is unrelated to the Joker of conventional playing cards. The Joker was created in the USA during the 19th century originally for the card game Euchre. Tarot cards: There are two types of Tarot deck. The Italian suited Tarot: The traditional Italian suited deck of coins, cups, swords, and batons is currently favored by those using Tarot for divination, although in some countries such as Italy and Switzerland such decks are still used for game playing. Those practicing Tarot divination often call the coins "pentacles" and the batons "wands." With few exceptions, the trump scenes of Italian suited Tarots differ little from deck to deck and are often seen by Tarot readers as containing symbolic meaning. The depictions of a Popess (II) and Pope (V) on Italian suited Tarots have been controversial in some areas. In Switzerland, these images were replaced by depictions of Juno (II) and Jupiter (V). In Bologna Italy, the papal figures along with the Empress (III) and the Emperor (IV) were replaced by four Moorish figures which are unnumbered and act as trumps of equal rank in the Bolognese variety of Tarocchi.

My wife was into Tarot cards when I first met her. She did my tarot reading and the results turned out to be vague but admittedly accurate in some general respects, a bit like a horoscope can seem relevent to you, but in reality, they are all relevent to you such is the way they are written. I asked for an immediate new reading but she said that you weren't supposed to do that - it's bad luck!

Yes bad luck for the people who sell Tarot cards as, like horoscopes, the readings are vague and you can find the facts in your life to fit in with the readings. Whilst the card readings are all different, they are also vague and hence almost always fits in with your life in some way, especially if you try!

James Randi did an experiment along these lines. He handed out a supposedly tailor made for the individual horoscope to a class of students. He asked them to rate them for accuracy and relevence to their lives and they came back, impressed, giving 7s, 8s and 9 out of ten for relevence. Was Randi a master in the art of Astrology?

Yes, in a way he was.He then asked the students to swap horoscope readings with the people sat behind them.

Guess what? Every horoscope was identical!I think Tarot operates in exactly the same manner.

I read Tarot cards and I have read them 2 or 3 times for a person. But anyway, I think it is like anything there are good ones, and fakes. If someone reads your cards and says, oh you will marry the man/woman of your dreams and have three kids is a fake imo. Why? Because the way I feel about Tarot and Fortune telling in general is that the future is not set in stone. Any little thing you do today will change the future. I think of the future as a tree and every descision as a new branch on that tree. So therefore how can you tell someone exactly what is going to happen? You can't. What you CAN tell them is that there is the potential for something to happen. I tell people this when I read for them, which is not that often any more so I am a bit rusty.

Oh and btw my great aunt read cards for a living. But she used a reagular deck of playing cards (which is called Gypsy style if I am not mistaken), she read my grandmothers cards one day and told her to be careful or she would have an accident. My grandmother started to laugh and right then her chair broke, she hit her chin on the table as she fell and was knocked out cold. When she came to (none the worse except for a sore chin), her sister was leaning over her shaking a finger and saying, "See you should listen to me!!". Grandma used to love to tell that story. lol

Wheel of FortuneBriefly:

This card is a delight to arrive in your reading. Not only can it bring about an unusual turn of events that are quite fortunate for you.In Detail...This card is a delight to arrive in your reading. Not only can it bring about an unusual turn of events that are quite fortunate for you, but that you are finally taking the lead in the direction of your own life and your ultimate destiny. This card suggests not so much that events happen to you, but rather that you instigate many major changes to bring about a new life with new challenges and renewed hope. You may decide to leave a job, leave a partner, or go overseas and the decisions you make with regards to these will be so swift that you will shatter some people's impressions that you were once a stable and slow mover. Now all things must change, and change swiftly. If you should happen to win the lottery or some other good fortune befalls you, make sure you know exactly what you want to do with your new-found freedom, independence and wealth. The bolt out of the blue is likely to happen just when you thought you were in a rut and didn't anticipate anything was going to alter. Opportunities can arise thick and fast and leave you gasping for air between this offer and that. Don't allow anyone to push you into anything you are unsure of.

Your World - Your FocusWhat surrounds you currently, how others view you, where you are both mentally and spiritually.

The ChariotBriefly: Travel awaits you. Should the other travel card, the six of swords also be in your card layout, then this is an indicator that you are to move across new ground, or maybe even purchase a mode of travel such as a car.In Detail...Generally speaking this card depicts some kind of travel. Should the other travel card, the six of swords also be in your card layout, then this is an indicator that you are to move across new ground. However, even by itself, as this is a major arcana card, travel is still a strong possibility. You may travel quite a distance and your goal is to get there, by whatever means you can find, even horseback if necessary. This can also mean that someone is coming from a long distance towards you. For some people this can represent getting a new mode of transport, such as buying your first car, or buying a new car or bike or whatever. The emphasis is on getting to your destination by the quickest route available. This card too is about choices. You may have to make a major decision around this time that will alter your circumstances quite dramatically. Do not resist change for that will disrupt the natural flow of events that are waiting to unfold for you. Also I have seen this card manifest in matters to do with re-decorating the home. Sometimes it is just new curtains or cushions, however the aim is to bring comfort into the home.

He holds a wand in his hand which has three leaves sprouting from it signifying growth and abundance. In front of him is another wand and behind him the third wand. He is contemplating his future and possibly the journey ahead of him. In the distance are mountains with high peaks. It appears to be an almost barren environment, warm and dry. However he has with him the symbols of growth and can plant wherever he sees fit. He wants to settle down, but must first wander and roam until he finds his true home. This card too is the seeker of knowledge and truth. He searches until he finds what he is looking for.

He is tall and handsome and has long brown hair and wears a beard and moustache, making him look particularly masculine. She has a purple turban on her head with a feather in it, and she is beautiful, slender and very refined in appearance. If you are currently single, you may be about to become attached, as in meeting the person you will eventually marry, or actually tying the knot very soon if you are engaged. This will be a blessed union, one full of love and caring. There may also be some financial benefits of mutual sharing coming up in the very near future. If you are currently not particularly financial, your future security is near at hand, and this may come about via any means, such as a windfall, inheritance or the benefit of shared resources.

Ace of WandsBriefly: Perhaps a move interstate or overseas. Life is about to flourish and grow in more ways than you can imagine. In Detail...This a beautiful card to just look at. On it is a hand reaching out from the sky holding a branch that is sprouting green leaves. This is very symbolic of a new life. There could very well be mountains nearby in the place you are planning on moving to. The sky is blue and the world is your oyster. Now is the most favourable time to consider what possibilities lay ahead. A business venture may be undertaken now that builds a solid and secure future for you and your family. Take the initiative and move into new territory, for the old has little to offer, whereas the new is fresh and inspiring to you. He may not age well and could tend to look rather weathered or older than he actually is, even at a young age. Mostly he would have dark hair. Conservative in attire most of the time. Serious manner in appearance and clothing. Personality: Can be abrasive, tactless and have a harsh attitude towards life and his efforts for survival. He may have fought various battles, personal or in times of war, that have left him feeling empty and scarred. He may even have a physical scar on his face or hands. He tends to treat people abrubtly, as if they annoy him just by their presence. He is serious and often secretive. Often, what he doesn't say, says it all. His look can condemn. He likes to be in charge and in control of his life and his environment. He is generally in business suits or a uniform of some type. He appreciates the discipline of keeping up appearances and likes his boots polished very well. He may actually collect old relics or swords as a hobby and enjoy cleaning and polishing them and putting them on display in his home. He believes that life is meant to involve hard work and he would not like to be unemployed at any time, as he likes the structures of time and discipline in his well-ordered life. You are brave and can face anything the future holds. Just say yes! If you are not the querent and this card appears, I suggest that you allow this person to be themselves. Past InfluencesThat which has gone before you, those past events and influences that have led you to this path

Queen of SwordsBriefly: Her future lies in learning to trust others again. In Detail...Physically usually (though not always) tall and/or slender woman. Quite often has dark hair. Refined appearance and conservative in dress most of the time. Gracious manner. She prefers sophisticated clothing. Personality is cautious and clever. Can be cunning, destructive and manipulative. She is often aloof and distant. She keeps her distance and puts up barriers around herself. She displays an air of unemotional responses. She may appear hard, selfish and self-controlled. Beneath her facade she hides much previous emotional pain and/or hardship. She has learnt how to survive. She is a woman alone. She is either a widow, divorced, a spinster or without a loving partner. She may have spent a long time on her own and keeps up her defences and her sword drawn to protect her at all times. She has a fondness for red roses. She looks good in black clothing. She likes to wear expensive or perhaps antique and conservative jewellery most of the time, though sometimes she wears some bold jewels. She knows she would or could be seduced if she lets her guard down. She is not a social butterfly. She can seem to be unforgiving in some circumstances, but this is her self-defence mechanism being activated to avoid feeling pain and disturbing emotional reactions. She cries in her sleep, and little elsewhere. She feels more in control if she can avoid having too deep feelings for anyone, lest they puncture her heart and give her reason to despair. She can become big hearted if in the right company and circumstances and when she feels safe and secure. There is hope for her and she is wise enough to know it. She is symbolic of the rose, seductive and potentially dangerous, capable of cutting the skin and making it bleed, yet the soft velvety petals can blossom into the most beautiful arrangement and captivate your heart. She is wistful and reflective, serious yet sensuous, yet always alert. She is capable of being the Goddess or the crucifier. Occupations suited to her would be the head of a company or large organisation. Also she would make a great surgeon, doctor, police officer, dentist or anything that involves the use of sharp items or weapons. She would make a good soldier, warrior, fighter or leader of a revolution. She knows only one truth, her own. Her future lies in learning to trust others again. She has been severely betrayed in the past by women and men alike. She may need to take a leaf out of the book of the Queen of Cups, who is more giving, loving and affectionate. She could have a love relationship but only if total trust exists. There is no room for dishonesty or lies. If she is betrayed, she severs her relationships completely and irrevocably and never goes back. Friends are cast off and not seen again should they make the mistake to betray or abuse her. Her goodwill only stretches so far and behind that she may lose some of her sense of compassion, knowing that others should learn to be more self-reliant, like herself. She may go to the extreme of cutting off her husband's head, should he betray or deceive her. Querent's card. If this is you, then you may be being called to meet the challenge of your strengths and you will meet this head on regardless of whether this produces success or failure. Even in failure, you will learn where you went wrong and this is the ultimate lesson. If you are not the querent and this card appears, I suggest that you make an ally of this woman, because she can be a powerful opponent if you should cross her. She is loyal and steadfast to those she gets close to, just don't mess with her, because you will wish you hadn't.

There are mountains in the background, similar to those in Hawaii. There is foliage around her and nuts growing on these. Generally she has blue eyes, though could have any eye colour. If you are this person, you are on your way to fame and fortune. You may come into a windfall, marry well, or somehow stumble upon a unique way to increase your income. You will be well liked by your friends and loved by your family and husband. You are serious, yet vulnerable. You are calm, yet can be set back by those who stir conflict around you. The comforts of life are important, more so for your own peace within your own mind knowing that you have what you need. If you are not this woman, then you will meet someone like her who supports you in many and varied ways. If you are a female, this woman will become your most ardent fan and friend. If you are a male, this woman may become your lover or your wife. Cherish her, for she is loyal and affectionate and has your best interests at heart.

Physically, it could mean that an operation is imminent, and that your health is undergoing some changes. It is possible that something has to be removed, whether that be a tooth or other body part, and it may be replaced with an artificial part. This gives the ability to recover quickly and to get on with the rest of your life. You may also be undergong major psychological changes where you are feeling more confident and outgoing. If you draw this card you either live in a setting like this or it is not far from your home. Or perhaps you are considering moving to a seaside resort area at some point in the not too distant future. We need to change for a better World to lived in

It's a familiar enough story...

Stop me if you've heard any of these before:
...a popular television minister exhorts his audience to sacrifice their money and resources for

God--only to be revealed as a sickeningly wealthy fraud guilty of pocketing the money himself.
...a pastor extols the virtues of morality each week to his congregation--while he cheats on his wife on the side.
...a once-respected religious leader resigns in disgrace, hounded by rumors of scandal and corruption.

Hypocrisy--pretending to believe in something you don't. It happens in all walks of life, of course, but when it happens in the church it is particularly upsetting. And if you think that you can't stand hypocrites, listen to what Jesus--usually characterized by his patience and gentleness--had to say about them: "You hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean... You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?"
Those are harsh words, and they tell us in no uncertain terms that hypocrisy, whether it's demonstrated in the life of a prominent minister or a lowly churchgoer, is an offense to God. Most of us aren't famous preachers, but all of us must be on guard against the temptation to exempt ourselves from the standards to which we hold others.
Sometimes, even the best-intentioned person fails to meet the expectations of man and God. In fact, the Bible tells us that if we try to live a perfect life on our own, we'll never measure up (
Romans 3:23).
It's a good thing that we don't rely on humans--few of whom can honestly claim to have always practiced exactly what they preached--for our hope! Because there is a truth strong enough to shine through even the darkest of hypocrisies--it's the message that God, who loathes hypocrisy, is willing to forgive our failures, to wipe them away as if they'd never existed, to transform two-faced deception into honesty and integrity.

Defamation: When Careless Words Can Be Costly

Most of us are familiar with reports of Hollywood movie stars suing tabloid publications for printed articles containing false information. Business owners may be surprised to learn that they too can be sued based on the same legal principles, known as defamation law. Exposure to such claims may arise when employees, perhaps unwittingly, make false statements about another person or business. In fact, a private person can prove such a case with a lesser standard of proof than is required when a "public figure" sues. As with any potential claim, knowledge of the rules is the key to loss avoidance.
Defamation refers to a category of civil claims based on false statements which are "published," meaning spoken or expressed in writing, to a third party. Though defamation claims are frequently asserted against commercial publications, such as newspapers, defamation can also occur in a private setting, arising out of a letter or a conversation. In the business setting, it is therefore important that the content of communications, particularly those which are written or circulated to a wide audience, be accurate and fair.
Georgia's tort law of defamation includes claims for libel and slander. A libel is a false and malicious defamation of another, expressed in print, writing, pictures, or signs, tending to injure the reputation of the person and exposing that person to "public hatred, contempt or ridicule." "Malice," as used in the foregoing definition, means ill-will, hatred or charges calculated to injure. This is a lesser standard than that required to show "malice" when constitutional, free speech rights are at issue, the standard to which newspapers are held when discussing public figures. "Malice" in this latter context means knowledge of falsity or reckless disregard of whether a statement is false.
Slander, or oral defamation, occurs when a statement is uttered to a third party which is false and malicious. Some statements are considered so offensive that malice is implied and need not be affirmatively shown. Statements in this category include imputing to another person a crime punishable by law, or making charges against another in reference to that person's trade, office or profession which are likely to injure that person in his or her business. The crime need not be a felony; it is sufficient that a person has been accused of being guilty of a misdemeanor. Statements in the categories discussed in this paragraph do not require proof of actual damages either, contrary to most civil claims for money damages. The reason for this rule is that damage to a claimant's reputation can be presumed when the statement is sufficiently offensive, and also because reputation damages are difficult to prove.
Georgia law treats libel slightly more seriously than it does slander, because a libel involves the deliberate act of expressing defamation in writing, a relatively permanent form. Consequently, certain statements are considered actionable libel without a showing of damages, when the same statements would require proof of damages in a case of spoken defamation. Claims in this category include false statements that a person has engaged in acts of dishonesty or immorality.
In recent decades, some aspects of state defamation law were held unconstitutional by federal courts, to protect constitutional guarantees of free speech from being over-ridden by individual state laws. There is a continuing federal standard which applies to all states with respect to statements about public figures, based on the notion that politicians and other persons who choose to become widely known voluntarily subject themselves to public scrutiny and thereby forfeit a certain degree of privacy. However, the federal courts have deferred to state law in recent years with respect to claims involving private figures. Under Georgia law, a private figure can recover damages for defamation upon a showing of simple fault or negligence. This is contrasted with claims against public figures who must make a showing that the statements alleged to be defamatory were known to be false or made with reckless disregard as to their truth or falsity.
In the business context, defamation claims can conceivably surface in many ways. For example, letters to the editors which are published in a local newspaper have been the source of suits in Georgia against the author of the letter. Personnel departments may also have exposure for this type of claim if disparaging statements are made concerning former employees. It is important to have a policy requiring careful consideration of statements which are released to any third party concerning a former employee. Adverse statements can have a significant impact on a former employee's livelihood, and, for that reason, such statements can be particularly injurious. There are certain absolute defenses to defamation claims, most notably truth and privilege. If the person making the statement can prove that it was true, no matter how unflattering or derogatory, it is an absolute defense to a defamation claim. Certain other categories of statements are absolutely privileged, such as statements made during the course of legal proceedings. Georgia law also provides for certain conditional privileges as a defense to defamation claims. One such privilege is a good faith statement made on a subject in which the party making the statement has a significant interest. Conditional privileges will not apply, however, if they are merely used as a cloak for venting private malice. Consequently, the issue of conditional privileges, like most issues in defamation cases, is usually a question for the jury. In a case where jury questions are presented, the defendant can look forward to years of litigation before getting his or her day in court.
In light of the potential for defamation claims, businesses should implement appropriate policies and procedures to reduce exposure to such claims. Depending upon the nature of the business, it might also be appropriate to evaluate whether adequate insurance coverage has been purchased for potential defamation claims, and, if not, whether such coverage should be acquired.
Prejudicism in the society & the world:
People who discriminates bec. they based on races & social standing should be ashamed of themselves bec. they are bunch of morons;have they forgotten that we all originated from one root no other than Adam & Eve.If they don't believe this theory & rely more on scientific studies,we all originated from our very beautiful ancestry,no other than the MONKEYS than evolve to become APES then MAN.
Prejudice and discrimination are negative manifestations of integrative power. Instead of bringing or holding people together, prejudice and discrimination push them apart. Ironically, even prejudice and discrimination imply some sort of relationship, however. If there is no relationship people would be completely unaware of another person's or group's existence. When there is any relationship at all--even a negative one--there is some integration. Kenneth Boulding referred to this as "disintegrative power"-"the integration that is achieved through hatred, fear, and the threat of a common enemy." (Boulding, 1989, p. 62.) This is seen in military patriotism, in nationalism, and in any situation of "negative identity" in which one group defines itself in terms of what it is not. This tends to lead into a "pathological situation of internal violence, often perpetuated through the family itself." While this is especially obvious and destructive when it occurs on a large scale--as it did in the Balkans, Somalia, Sri Lanka, or the Middle East--it also occurs on smaller scales as well, when one group holds negative stereotypes of another group and discriminates against members of that group based on those stereotypes.

What is prejudice?
Prejudice (say pre-joo-dis) is a word that means judging someone or having an idea about them before you actually know anything about them.
It can also mean having an opinion about something without knowing anything about it.
It seems a bit silly to have an opinion on something or someone you know nothing about!
Unfortunately, we don't always see that we are being prejudiced.
We don't always see that we have strong ideas about certain people, their culture or their religion.
Unfortunately, we don't always see that we have been influenced by family, friends and the media to have ideas about something or someone that we have no personal experience of.
Racial prejudice
In the 'olden days' maybe it was understandable that people would be afraid of another group of people who looked different, had a different religion and did things in a different way, because most people lived and died in the place where they were born.
People who always lived in the same place with others like them might fear that people who looked or acted differently may want their land or may want to hurt them in some way.
Nowadays, because people travel a lot, or go to live in a completely different country, or go to school with lots of people from different places, we should learn to respect each other's differences.
But sometimes these fears from the 'olden days' are sort of passed along in families, and a kid may find that he is being prejudiced against someone of a different race, even though he doesn't know that person.
If some people watch something on the news or in a movie which shows someone of a different race or culture doing something bad, then they may choose to think that all people of that race are bad people. How silly is that? There are good and bad people everywhere in the world.
Gender prejudice
Do you sometimes find yourself saying, "Oh, it's not fair the boys always get to…" or "The girls always get to…" ? Well be careful, because that is gender prejudice.
What do you want to do when you grow up?
For a long time there were some jobs that were only for boys and some jobs that were only for girls.
But that has changed now. Lots more girls are going into jobs in engineering, medicine, science, sales and just about anything you can think of that girls were never given the chance to do.
Boys wouldn't go into 'girls' jobs, like nursing, teaching, hairdressing, modelling because they were thought to be not jobs for 'real' men!
Why? Well, it was thought that it would be a waste of time and money for girls to do any job that needed a lot of time to learn, because girls would get married, have children then stay home to look after them.Nowadays anyone can do any job if they have the training and the strength to do it.
In many countries, everyone can choose what they want to do, and employers choose the best person for the job whether that person is male or female.
Of course there are still some countries where females are not expected to work outside the home, but not in Australia.
Religious prejudice
As you learn more about the world we live inand especially about the wars that have been fought, you learn that many of these wars were about religion. One lot of people was trying to make another lot of people believe in the same god or gods that they believed in.Some countries are still fighting about religion. How sad it must be to be friends with someone when you are both in another country yet be unable to admit that you even know each other when you are in your own country.
Recognising prejudice
As soon as you hear people making comments like, all men, all people of one race, all girls, all boys, all people with one ear bigger than the other, or whatever, then you can tell that there is some prejudice there. How can anyone know all people who….?If you catch yourself thinking stuff like that, then think.
PEOPLE WHO DISCRIMINATE OTHERS BEC. OF RACIAL,SOCIAL,RELIGIOUS DIFFERENCES ARE THOSE WHO ARE INSECURE ABOUT THEMSELVES & DON'T HAVE ENOUGH INTELLIGENCE TO ANALYZED THINGS & SEE THE PERSON WITHIN NOT JUST BASED ON WHAT THE EYES COULD SEE OR THE PERCEPTION OF THE CROWD.GOD GAVE EACH OF US OUR OWN MIND TO MAKE USE OF IT ON A GOOD PURPOSE.NOW IT IS UP TO US IF WE WILL USE IT RIGHT OR GO WITH THE FLOW TO BE ASSOCIATED W/ THE BUNCH OF MORONS & IDIOTS.

Moral Values Without Religion: Does Morality Depend Upon Religion?

Does morality depend upon religion? Most people believe it does, which is a major reason behind the appeal of the religious right. People believe that without faith in a supernatural authority, we can have no moral values--no moral absolutes, no black-and-white distinctions, no firm demarcation between good and evil--in life or in politics. This is the assumption underlying Justice Antonin Scalia's recent assertion that "government derives its authority from God," since only religious faith can supposedly provide moral constraints on human action.
And what draws people to this bizarre premise--the premise that there is no rational basis for refraining from murder, rape or anarchism? The left's persistent assault on moral values.

That is, liberals characteristically renounce moral absolutes in favor of moral grayness. They insist, for example, that criminals should not be reviled, but should be seen as tragic products of their "social environment"--that teenage mothers are just as entitled to welfare checks as wage-earners are to their paychecks, and that to deny welfare benefits for a child born into a family already receiving welfare is, as the ACLU declares, to "unconstitutionally coerce women's reproductive decisions"--that America is morally equivalent to its enemies, with our own policies having provoked the Sept. 11 attacks and our "unilateralist" actions in Iraq being no different from any forcible occupation of one nation by another.

Repulsed by such egalitarian, anti-"judgmental" absurdities, many people disavow what they regard as leftism's essence: secularism, and turn to religion for their values.
But this is a false alternative. Secularism is simply a viewpoint that disclaims religion; what it embraces, though, may be rational or not. And the absurdities of the left stem precisely from its irrationality--its pervasive emotionalism, its insistence on doing whatever "feels right," its contention that there are no fixed truths, its credo that morality is anything one wishes it to be.

The left maintains that no objective principles exist to validate moral judgments. From its multicultural equalization of all societies--savage or civilized--to its belief in an indefinable, "evolving" Constitution, the left rejects the logic of objective standards and enshrines the arbitrariness of subjectivism. Thus, what the left's opponents should disavow is not secularism per se, but rather the replacement of a religious variant of unreason--blind faith--with a secular variant: blind feelings.

The real alternative to the leftist claptrap is a morality of reason. Such a morality begins with the individual's life as the primary value and identifies the further values that are demonstrably required to sustain that life. It observes that man's nature demands that we live not by random urges or by animal instincts, but by the faculty that distinguishes us from animals and on which our existence fundamentally depends: rationality.

With reason as its cardinal value, this code of individualism espouses fixed principles and categorical moral judgments. It demands, for instance, that the initiation of force--the antithesis of reason--be denounced and that an unbridgeable moral chasm be recognized between the criminal and the non-criminal.

Since life requires man to produce what he needs, productiveness is a moral value--thereby making moral opposites out of the industrious worker and the parasitic welfare recipient. Since life requires man to use his own judgment rather than submissively accept the assertions of others, independence is a moral value--making moral opposites out of the person (or nation) acting on his own rational convictions and the one deferring to the consensus of his neighbors (or the U.N.). Since life requires the mind, man's political system must allow him to use it, i.e., freedom is a moral value--making moral opposites out of America, the defender of liberty, and America’s enemies, who seek liberty's destruction.

A morality of reason counters the relativism and the undiscriminating "tolerance" of the left.
It also counters a morality of faith, and establishes a genuine "culture of life." Individualism upholds your sovereignty over your life--and refuses to subordinate the preservation of that life to, say, the preservation of embryonic stem cells in some petri dish. Individualism defends your inalienable right to your life, including your right to end it--and evaluates, say, opposition to assisted-suicide as a desecration of human life, since forcing someone to live who wishes to die is no less evil than forcing someone to die who wishes to live.

There is indeed morality without religion--a morality, not of dogmatic commands, but of rational values and of unbreached respect for the life of the individual.
