The world lives in news. There is news of national interests and some are nonsense news. Journalists thrive on their journey to bring out and tell the world of the truth about what is happening and what really is important for people to know. They are willing to gather it in whatever ways possible as long it does not violate any ethical and moral obligations to society. I had watched once again “Perfect Strangers” by Hale Berry and Bruce Willis.

It exemplifies the twisted reality where news becomes a powerful weapon that could destroy everyone in such a orderly manner. I believed in the objectivity of journalism but in the end it is about the subjectivity that surrounded the situations which created that news. Although all are factual information that we can see in news but how it is constructed and how it is being reported makes it the greatest weapon of all. A single headline can start a revolution. A single headline can make us cry. And a single headline can ruin our economy.

I am a journalist and will be a journalist forever. Even though I am not writing in a daily paper or in college publication, the net provided me the necessary tools to tell the truth. I have so many stories to be written in such a fashionably style so that it will not as dry as an ordinary story which we hear everyday. And I write not about the complexities of societies but the simplicity of life that becomes unbearably complex along the process of everyday living. I will keep on writing as long as there are words and as long as there are readers even if it is I alone.
And by this gift of writing I can make a difference. Maybe I can shed a light on my own problems. I can even awaken my loved ones to feel what my heart deeply wants to say. Maybe I can publish a book in the future where it contains all the blogs that I have written all these years. Maybe I can be the likes of Paulo Coelho or John Grisham that really influences us in their writing. And makes us happy too.



And writing just like this one makes me realized that I am capable of loving. I am capable of loving our cruel world even if it is very unfair. I am capable of loving everyone even though they have motives of their own. With that writing can be viewed as a noble endeavor that really leaves un imprints of our minds so that others can ponder on it. Others can relate also to what we are going through with our life. Maybe we are describing something that they are experiencing also at the moments. Maybe they can feel that they are indeed not alone in this world that their sufferings can be viewed as just a natural phenomenon that the Almighty God has given us.

Indeed we all have the gift of words. It is one of the many human capabilities that separate us from the animal kingdom. We can comprehend words and be affected by them. A single text can make us cry. A single hi or hello can make us smile. And a single I love you uttered by a sincere person can bring the other to feel loved. And even our unspoken words or gestures can be understood by someone who really know us.

And all of these fall under the communication functions of human. We are molded by nature or God to be able to use our gift of communication to connect ourselves to others. Others may not understand it at once but eventually what we really want to say will be heard. What we really mean will be understood. And may this piece of work will be read by my future children and that they will continue the tradition of writing which we shared altogether.

And “Ana Begins” begins to play. It is a song by “Counting Crows” that serves as background music while I am writing this. And it is beginning to end. And this article will end also along its music. But there are millions of songs, means millions of writings are awaiting to be written unless we run out of words which are impossible to happen. And words in the end will remain words. Words of Wisdoms.

Global warming is perhaps the most important environmental problem in the world today. Levels of greenhouse gases are increasing in the atmosphere due to human activities, and are changing the composition of the atmosphere and global warming. Climate scientists agree that human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels contribute to the problem. Scientists have predicted the phenomemon of global warming for decades. Unfortunately, some of the adverse effects of global warming, they have also predicted begin to occur throughout the world, including:

Growing incidence of droughts in some areas, floods in others;
The rising temperatures of oceans and the sea level;
increase extreme weather events such as tornadoes and hurricanes;

The melting of mountain glaciers and the reduction of snow cover;
Dying coral reefs, and
Coastal erosion, and loss of coastal ecosystems.

While a handful of skeptics continue to discuss science, the World 'scientists agree: science is in. Global warming is happening.

What is global warming

What scientists say: The Intergovernmental Group of Experts on International Climate Change (IPCC), an organization of more than 2000 climate scientists , has produced three scientific assessments concerning climate change and, in each, has concluded that global warming occurs, and is related to human activity. Their latest report (January 2001) stated that: "There is new and stronger evidence that most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities."

The US National Academy of Sciences (NAS) concluded in June 2001 that: "Greenhouse gases are accumulating in Earth 'atmosphere as a result of human activities, causing air temperatures on the surface and subsurface of the Ocean temperatures on the rise. Temperatures are, in fact increasing. "And he added: " national policy decisions made now and in the longer-term future will influence the extent of any damage suffered by vulnerable populations and ecosystems later in this century. "The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) issued an unprecedented alert in July 2003 warning that " Extreme weather events Might Increase "in the world.

The alert tied a record number of extreme weather events such as tornadoes and heat waves in 2003 to global warming. The alert said: "Record extremes in weather and climate events continue to occur around the world. Recent scientific assessments indicate that, as the global temperatures continue to warm due to climate change, the number and intensity of extreme events might increase. "Here in the United States, some states are taking action. The private sector is also responding to this challenge.

What is global warming What is the United States about global warming? The Bush administration, unfortunately, has turned its back on this problem. Shortly after taking office in 2001, President Bush went back on a campaign promise to regulate carbon emissions from the power plants (a major source of pollution to global warming).

The Climate Change Plan announced by President Bush in February 2002, calls for a 18 percent reduction of greenhouse gases "intensity " in 2012, which translates into a 14 per cent more greenhouse gases during this period. As pointed out by the US General Accounting Office (GAO) in October, 2003 report, however, the "plan " represents virtually 'business as usual. 'The report states: "While the emissions of greenhouse gases in the United States rose Significantly, the Energy Information Administration of the United States reported that the emission intensity has been generally declining steadily since 50 years.

"The Bush Climate Change Plan allows greenhouse gases continue to rise while the long decline in emissions intensity is also continued. Fortunately, the United States Congress are beginning to demand action in the light of the continued blocking of the Bush administration. In the very first Senate vote on a mandate of the American policy cuts greenhouse gases, which took place in October 2003, 43 members of the Senate voted in favor of the measure, with 55 voting members of the objection.

The authors of legislation, Senator from Arizona John McCain and Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut have promised to push for another vote on the bill, the Climate Stewardship Act, in 2004, and believe that they may even have enough votes for the measure to pass the Senate.

I do Acknowledge the extensive work done by G8 and other Groups & we are all grateful to them, but we need to work as one group, A Team, and be very transparent to each other, and all organizations should unite in this Humanitarian task and bridge the Gap slowly and surely and we can save the world. So does the next generation do not blame us, as we all have children.

"The Right Kind of Power"

What is power?

Power is the ability to influence people. Everyone wants this kind of influence. When it goes together with great love, great understanding, and not a drive to gratify our own narrow self-interest, it can be a tremendous instrument for bringing love, joy, inspiration. Power in and of itself is not bad; it only becomes so when we try to force the less powerful around us to submit to our personal will. The power that goes with love and understanding, however, is something great.

How did we come to so misunderstand the nature of power? Why do you think the hunger for this kind of power is so prevalent?

It’s normal for human beings to identify with their own separate self. The problem is that we get caught in that notion of ourself as a separate individual and caught in that individual self’s agenda. The crudest, the most basic form of power is brute force, the ability to physically manipulate and coerce others into accepting the agenda of one’s own ego. It is the first kind of power we learn to exercise as small children. Then as we evolve and mature, individually or as a society, we discover other, somewhat finer instruments of effecting our own will -- manipulating others by giving and withholding things they need or want, such as food, shelter, money, respect, affection, or sex.

Most of us have not had the opportunity to learn that there is a higher, more satisfying kind of power, which comes from the realization that we are much more than this small, separate self. When we do this, we see our successes and our failures are the product not merely of our individual self, but of our parents, our ancestors and many other conditions coming together. We are not proud of our accomplishments; we see we are just fortunate to have favorable conditions for success. Relating to power in this way, without begin caught in an idea of a separate self, we do not hurt others. Without seeking power, we become truly powerful.



What would you share with world leaders?

Our world political and business leaders need to have the three virtues which I have written about in this book. [Insert]

What kind of power did the Buddha have?

He had the power of looking deeply into all phenomena and seeing how all things inter-are, how they arise in dependence on each other. If he emerged as a Buddha, an enlightened being, he saw that was because the conditions were favorable for it to happen. He didn’t get caught in delusions of pride or selfishness and so he couldn’t be corrupted. The real power of the Buddha was that he had so much love. He saw people trapped in their notions of small separate self, feeling guilty or proud of that self, and he offered revolutionary teachings that resounded like a lion’s roar, like a great rising tide, helping people to wake up and break free from the prison of ignorance.

Is there a modern example of someone who exemplifies true power?

Gandhi. Mother Teresa. The Dalai Lama. Anyone who is practicing understanding and compassion can exemplify true power. Anyone can be a Buddha.

In a world where so many of us live with the wrong conception of power, how do we begin to incorporate true power into our work and our lives?

We need to cultivate the three virtues. Without trying to making ourselves “powerful,” people will notice and admire and come to us, and gradually true power will come to reside in us.

How did your recent trips to Vietnam influence your thoughts on power?

They’ve provided some excellent examples of the true, spiritual kind of power prevailing over the worldly kind of power system we are used to seeing. Many Communist government officials have a rigid, dictatorial power but they live in constant suspicion and fear of anything that might undermine the power they have. I came to my homeland in 2005 as nothing more than a simple monk. The first time I gave a lecture, there were police everywhere, on the alert and ready to put down a demonstration. But nothing like that ever happened. They also limited attendance at that talk to eighteen people, in a hall that could have held hundreds, to show their power. I went ahead and joyfully offered a teaching to those eighteen people just as if I were speaking to thousands. The officials were astonished by this action and also moved by the teachings. They felt ashamed, and for the next talk they allowed more than 1,000 people to attend. Day by day, the level of their fear was able to go down, lower and lower.

This year on returning to Vietnam, we wanted to hold three great ceremonies of prayer to “untie the knots of injustice” and bring reconciliation for the decades of war suffered by the Vietnamese people in the 20th century. Our intention was to pray for the healing of all the wounded and dead of all nationalities. The government officials wouldn’t allow it; they said if we would speak only of the Vietnamese we might have a chance, although they really didn’t want these ceremonies at all. Their attitude was, there’s been no injustice, why do you need to have these prayers? Finally they allowed us to hold the prayer ceremonies on the condition that we not refer to the ceremonies as “untying the knots of injustice.” The ceremonies brought very deep healing to many people.

In Ho Chi Minh City 10,000 people came, and officials were afraid because there are people now in power who did some of that killing. The officials feared that people attending would say, “That man is the one who killed my husband!” and there could be something like a riot. But we taught people to have loving kindness in their thoughts, speech and action because only in this way could they liberate the loved ones they had lost, as well as themselves. So the officials were reassured.

Many thousands also came to the ceremony in Hanoi. People had had dreams in which their loved ones who had died came and asked the dreamer to attend the ceremony, so they could be liberated. Students rode their motorbikes all night to come, with only ten cents to offer to the temple, ten cents to buy a little food and ten cents for a place to sleep. So many people came and, though they are poor, donated whatever they could; and we are distributing those donations to help handicapped victims of Agent Orange.

All of these things show the power of the people; the power of humanity; the power of love. In Vietnam we clearly saw how true, spiritual power can move gently and peacefully to change a whole nation – yes; even a whole world.

How many mistakes do we make when we judge people?

But not what they have in their heart.

Who are you? Is it society that tells you who you are?
How do you see the society?
What can you do to change the world?
Is it your passport that tells you who you are?
Tell me who you are, then each of us can bring
A stone for the reconstruction of the world.

"Awakening the society of the World"

Are the leaders that we had brought to the position to lead our countries,do really deserve the trust we had given them?Can they really lead a country & have a good governance?

Are they being a good examples to their countries?Are they really capable of the responsibilities that a good leader should implicate to the country that they are governing?or they are just in the public office for personal interest & power grabbing....what are their true intentions!are we aware about it?How can we identify a good leader?This are just some of the questions that we should know the answer a responsible citizens of our respective countries.

But first let me introduce myself I'm Rinrin from the PHILIPPINES & proud to be a filipina.I'm just a regular citizen & I have no plans to enter politics...I'm not aspiring any position in the public office either...I'm just a concerned citizen who just want to share my views about certain topics that affects the lives of many people bec. of negligence of the leaders that we had trusted to lead & govern our countries.I believe that in sighting my views maybe,just maybe i can contribute something to the world that has been blinded for so long....for them being a leader is POWER but it should not be this way if you really want to serve your country,you should share yourself by putting your heart in the service not getting what you can & abuse the priviledges.

Let's face it! Politics is a dirty business not the politics itself but the people who are abusing their power for personal gain.Do these leaders really know what they are doing?To tell you frankly, we really don't need a President & a Prime Minister who graduated from University of Harvard or have 5 masteral degrees bec. governing a country is not all about business!It is about the welfare of their countrymen.A good leader should analyzed every aspect of a problem & a good leader is not afraid & willing to step down his/her position if the situation calls for it.A good leader should always think the benefit of the greater good.A good leader should try his best to solve the root of the problem not just applying a temporary solution,if only our leaders put their hearts in their positions & really love their job then we will have a better place to live in..less violence, a more progressive country.A good leader is willing to accept his/her mistakes & willing to step down his/her position if there will be intances that the situation calls for it.A good leader is always ready to lend a hand to his countrymen not just to those they can bebefit but they should more focus to the less fortunate not by giving them food but by teaching them how to succeed in life. A good leader should have a strong dignity & principles so that he cannot be manipulated by others who want to take advantage his position . No Leaders should provoke or start a war or any kind of violence . To name in particular...like President George Bush of United States of America . I think he is not analyzing his decisions wisely,he is acting without thinking,maybe he is thinking but where he is coming from?I think from nowhere.....Starting a war is absurd!war is just a waste of money & come to think of the innocent lives that has been taken for....the fact ,it just started with two leaders who are selfish & inconsiderate ,they'll convince their followers that they are fighting for a reason.The problem is their reasons are not clear & not logical to start a war.I dare to those leaders that if they are really brave enough & claim to love their country & men, they should lead their troops not just commanding them to fight for your own idiot beliefs...you should join them in the battle to kill innocent lives,if that is really what you want . Bush is the President of America that is considered to be the most powerful & influential country.He should be analytical in all his decision-making.I know that it is still fresh in our memories,the tragic event that happened in U.S ,the Sept.11 terrorist attack(World Trade Center)I'm not an american but i got really affected emotionally by the tragedy that killed thousands of innocent people.
