Controlling your Destiny....

The only thing that stands between you and your destiny, is if you feel that you have limitations. If you begin to doubt yourself, you doubt your ability to make your dreams come true. Your destiny will be waiting for you on the other side of the mist of indecision and self-doubt.

We are not born doubting ourselves or believing that we have limitations. Have you ever watched small children? They are filled with boundless energy, confidence and curiosity. They are not afraid of failing until someone inadvertently teaches them to be afraid. That someone could be their friends, classmates, teachers, daycare workers or even well meaning parents. Once we learn about the possibility of failure, our destiny becomes limited because we believe we have limited potential, therefore we form our own limited expectations.

As Theodore Roosevelt said, "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure."

You have the ability to re-claim your destiny by envisioning your dreams and goals.

You can create the life or destiny you dream of .

Did you realize that even Colonel Sander (Kentucky Fried Chicken) faced repeated numbers of rejections before he finally found someone willing to take a chance on his "dream"?

He refused to allow other peoples expectations or judgments to determine his destiny.

Consider Albert Einstein, he was labeled as stupid, slow and unable to read, and thus was thought would never become anything. All the time his dyslexia was interfering with his learning making things three times as difficult for him. He did not listen or believe the doubters in his life and went on to become a great man.

Both of these men refused to allow other peoples expectations or judgments to determine their destiny or define their dreams. They created the destiny they wanted. The destiny they had always dreamed of and pictured in their mind's eye.

"If you want to be happy, be." ~ Tolstoy

" God has entrusted me with myself." ~ Epicteus

What I feel Tolstoy and Epicteus were trying to say in their quotations, is that you can be happy if you want to be. It is your choice. You are the one who decides to be happy by focusing on the present - living, loving and achieving in the present. Focus on being happy. Focus on being the person you want to be, then your are creating your own destiny.

Everyday you are alive is a miracle - a priceless gift that you must mould into the future you desire. You should spend less time worrying about things you cannot change, regretting choices you made instead of spending time appreciating what you have and the possibilities of creating and achieving even more. To become fearless, you must spend less time being fearful or depressed and more time being joyous and doing the things you wish to do. That way , you spend the majority of your time living your dream and less time getting ready to live.

"Dost though love life?

Thy do not squander time for that's the stuff life is made of."

~ Benjamin Franklin

"Many people die with their music still in them.

Why is this so?

Too often it is because they are always getting ready to live....

in stead of actually living."

~ Oliver Wendell Holmes.

The act of Doing is the cornerstone of creating your own, personal destiny. True joy is in the dreaming, imagining, considering and conceiving what you want. The actions you take produce the outcome of your destiny.

"Life is not lost by dying;

life is lost minute by minute, day by dragging day,

in all the thousand small uncaring ways."

~ Stephen Vincent Benet

"Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend."

~Laertius Diogenes

Imagine your destiny. Focus on what your dreams are, then create your destiny with Pride. Others may try to downplay or ruin your dream by trying to steal or belittle your pride. You must have passion, resolve, dreams innovations and last but not least.... ethics.

"Passion is the fire that energizes your life,

and without passion, without fire, without energy,

your true destiny will always be unfulfilled.

It will die of indecision, inaction and indifferences."

~ Rex Bennett

When you couple talent, dedication, hard work and passion for what you are doing, your success will arrive sooner than you think. You must have passion connected with your dream. Passion, as you well know, is that inner force that drives you to be the very best that you can be. Never let anyone steal your passion for life!

For example, one of my good friends has the passion, dedication and talent for making beautiful dolls. She spends hours on end to ensure she has paid attention to every detail perfectly. The dolls actually looks real! She doesn't mind the hard work necessary to do such a great job, because she has that inner passion guiding her towards her dream, her destiny.

Another example could be myself. People ask me all the time why I won't get an Administrators degree or a PhD. so that I can "move up" in the education field. The problem is, I don't want to move up, primarily because I love what I do working with children on such an intimate level. I would have to give up my wonderful experiences with the children to become the disciplinarian. I love the hugs I get walking down the hall, the cards they draw for me, and the fact that every time they see me somewhere (even out in public - which drives MY kids crazy) they yell out my name and usually grab me and to give me a big hug. (yes, their parent's do often wonder what's going on if they don't know me.. LOL)

My passion is helping children - especially those that everyone seems to have given up on, or those who are going through a rough time in their life and need an advocate to intervene on their behalf in order to help them out.

Whatever it is that you decide to do in life, even if it is just a temporary job until you are able to actually begin to accomplish your dream, do it with passion and enthusiasm .... even if it is something you have to do, rather than want to do.

"Wherever you go, go with all your heart"

~ Confucious

What if you have no idea what your passion is or how to tap into it? ....

If you have a goal or a dream, approach it, and everything you do, do with a good attitude...

If you do this, your passion will come and find you.

"Life is a daring adventure or nothing at all."

~ Helen Keller

"Passion is like genius, a miracle."

Rolland

"Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished

without passion."

~G.W.F. Hegel

"Only passion,

great passion can elevate the soul

to great things."

~Dennis Diderot

"What is passion? ...

Most of your being is at rest, un lived.

In passion the body and the spirit seek self-expression...

The more extreme and the more expressed passion is,

the more unbearable does life seem with out it,

we are partly dead and that soon, come what may,

we will be wholly so."

~John Boorman
