Is Seeing Believing?

Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. She said to herself, “If only I touch his cloak, I will be healed.”....

Matthew 9:20 (NIV)....

And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.....

Matthew 14:35-36 (NIV)....

Imagine reaching out and touching the edge of Jesus’ cloak and you are healed. It takes great faith to believe this. The people in the verses I have shared had this faith. The sick, infirmed and diseased reached out and touched the edge of the cloak Jesus was wearing and were healed. The faith shown by these people was amazing they believed before they touched his cloak they would be healed. They had not seen this happen they just believed in the healing power of Jesus.

One of apostles, Thomas after being told Jesus had come back from the dead did not believe his brothers. Where had his faith gone? Jesus wanted Thomas to believe he wants us all to believe. Jesus came back for another visit specifically for Thomas and maybe us. Then he said to Thomas; “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." John 20:27 (NIV) Jesus told Thomas to reach out and touch so you will believe. Do we have to see first?

Do we need to reach out and touch and see with your own eyes to believe? Is our faith about seeing? How does Jesus say we should believe? Does Jesus say our faith should come from seeing before we believe? Here is what Jesus said to doubting Thomas; Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." John 20:29 (NIV)

How is your faith today? Will you go to the foot of the cross with your sin? Will you take your sins to Jesus? Do we have to see Jesus on the cross to believe? What does Jesus have to say about this? What did he tell Thomas? Today my faith comes from believing not about seeing or feeling.
